Anyone who knows me will attest to the fact that when I have a thought or interest piqued, I tend to run with it for a while until I completely wear it out…some might call this obsession…I try not to think of it like that (yes denial is a great place to live – thank you very much!).
The recent bout of Batgirl mania seems to have subsided to make way for not one, but two new obsessions interests.
The first was ignited by a co-workers meeting doodles. Faye has a tendency to doodle mindlessly when she is talking on the phone, eating lunch, in a meeting – in fact I’m sure you’d be hard pressed to find her without a pen and paper near by – this is one of the many reasons that I totally love the girl…anyway, we were in a meeting on Monday, and I happened to look over at what her latest creation was, when I was transported to another time and place. Now obviously, I don’t mean this in the literal sense; I mean that I was reminded – no, not reminded, beat over the noggin with a memory – of a website I used to visit with religious conviction. http://www.explodingdog.com/ No, this is not something gross, despite the rather disgusting misnomer. Instead, it is a rather addictive art site full of the charming, off-beat (sometimes disturbing) “doodles” of the amazing, wonderful, stupendous SAM BROWN!!! He will take a suggested title and draw a picture from it…for example...
Science did not fail me
Are you ready?
EVERYBODY GO THERE NOW!!! http://www.explodingdog.com/
Oh, and on a side note…my rekindled love for Sam Brown’s site has been passed on to not only Faye, but to 3 others in my office as well. It’s that good…if you haven’t clicked on the link yet…just click it already!!!
And the second thing that seems to be occupying a fair amount of my free brain cells these days is another old favorite revisited. Actually, my love of stairs may fall into a slightly different category, because it seems to be more of a low lying, ongoing thing that I think about. Something that pops up from time to time to take hold of a few days of thought (for example); something that I was recently reminded of twice in the last few days. The first came at the possibility of an amazing oportunity for Joel and I to become home owners (I'll talk more about that if things work out - I don't want to jinx it), and the second came when I was visiting Sean Logan's space Rebel Photography. He has a great eye for capturing the everyday in beautiful photos, and one of his recent posts has a great shot of fire escape stairs in Toronto's downtown. He also has some amazing pictures of hamanity at it's best and worst - he gives a quiet dignity to a person down on their luck. Go and take a look!
These are not Sean Logan's photos, but simply a couple of pictures that I really like...
Anyway...that's just one more piece of the puzzle that makes up who I am (still working on figuring out who that really is …but each day I figure out another little piece).

Edit (Feb 22): Faye said I could post her doodles here...ta da!
